Everyday Clout: Sunni Faye, your name is so unique! Is there a story behind it?
Sunni Faye: Absolutely! My stage name starts with my real name and ends with “Faye,” which means something beautiful—like a fairy. It’s my way of saying I’m a beautiful, enchanting creature spreading positivity and magic.
Everyday Clout: Detroit’s known for its rich culture. How has growing up there shaped your music?
Sunni Faye: Growing up in Metro Detroit, especially as a church kid, had a huge impact. From choir to praise dancing, my time in church laid the foundation for my love of music and performance. Detroit’s grit and resilience also inspire me to push boundaries and stay authentic.
Everyday Clout: So how did your music journey begin, and why pop?
Sunni Faye: I’ve always been passionate about entertaining. My mom put me in pageants when I was just 10, and I’ve been performing ever since. Over the years, I explored tap dancing, ballet, praise dancing, and choir, both in church and at school. All those experiences shaped me as a performer. Pop feels like the perfect genre because it’s so uplifting and energetic—it’s all about making people feel good.
Everyday Clout: What makes your sound and style stand out?
Sunni Faye: My sound is bold and authentic because I write from my personal experiences—I don’t hold back. I also make it a point to celebrate the beauty of being brown. In my music, I often compare my complexion to gold and goddesses, creating a narrative that empowers and uplifts.
Everyday Clout: What’s your creative process like?
Sunni Faye: My creative space, which I call the “treehouse,” is where I disconnect and focus entirely on my music. It’s like studying for the LSAT—intense, focused, and immersive. After crafting a song or beat, I share it with my team for feedback. Then, it’s back to the treehouse for polishing, mixing, and mastering.
Everyday Clout: Your hottest song, “Party Hardy,” has been making waves. What’s the story behind that track?
Sunnifaye: “Party Hardy” is all about celebrating life and having fun with no worries. It’s a high-energy track meant to get people on their feet and feel like they’re part of the vibe. I want people to let loose, enjoy the moment, and embrace the joy of being alive. It’s been amazing to see how well it’s been received!
Everyday Clout: You’ve already accomplished a lot. What’s been your proudest moment so far?
Sunni Faye: Learning the business side of music has been a game-changer for me. It’s taught me patience and how to make strategic moves. I’m also proud of performing in four different states—it’s been an incredible experience meeting new audiences and sharing my music.
Everyday Clout: And what’s next for you?
Sunni Faye: Right now, I’m focused on creating an album or EP that truly represents who I am. I’m also gearing up to perform at more festivals next year—I’ve already started submitting applications. It’s all about building momentum and reaching more people.
