“SKYtheCameraGuyy: Blending Art, Sound, and Vision in the DMV”

Everyday Clout Interview

Everyday Clout: Let’s start with your journey. Who is SKYtheCameraGuyy, and how did you find your way into music and videography?

SKYtheCameraGuyy: I was born in the Bronx but moved around the East Coast, including Virginia, so I’ve had a lot of diverse experiences. Music’s always been in the background of my life, but my passion for visual storytelling really took off. One day, a friend sent me a beat, and I wrote and recorded a track in 15 minutes. That was a turning point—I realized I could bring the same creativity I had as a videographer into my music.

Everyday Clout: How would you describe your sound?

SKYtheCameraGuyy: I’d call it alternative rap, with some lofi and industrial vibes. I experiment with different styles, but the core of my music is about raw emotion and honest storytelling.

Everyday Clout: Who are some of your biggest musical influences?

SKYtheCameraGuyy: Definitely Kota the Friend and J. Cole. They focus on lyrics and authenticity, which are two things I try to bring into my own music.

Everyday Clout: You’ve got a unique mix of being both a musician and a videographer. How do those two art forms influence each other?

SKYtheCameraGuyy: They’re closely tied. When I work on a video, I think of it like a movie, where every shot tells part of a story. That mindset translates into my music, too. I approach my tracks like they’re part of a bigger narrative, and that helps guide how I make each piece, whether it’s a video or a song.

Everyday Clout: Tell us about some of the milestones in your career so far.

SKYtheCameraGuyy: Performing across Virginia has been a big deal for me—places like Fredericksburg and Richmond. One of my tracks, Rockstar Jeans featuring ITSYOUNGJAY, hit 10,000 streams, and that was huge. I also got to work with Jenya Naidenko, an artist from Ukraine, which really showed me how universal music can be.

Everyday Clout: What’s next for you? Any upcoming projects or goals you’re working toward?

SKYtheCameraGuyy: I’ve got several new music and video projects in the pipeline. One of my goals is to reach larger audiences both in the DMV area and beyond. I also want to keep pushing myself creatively, whether it’s through new sound experiments or more cinematic videos.
